VisionLabs to teach vehicles to identify drivers without keys soon

MOSCOW, Oct 15 (PRIME) -- Russia’s computer vision company VisionLabs will launch a technology to open public and commercial vehicles without keys in 2019, the company said on Monday.

“We expect that such an assisted recognition will be expanded everywhere in the next three–five years, much faster than fully driverless cars. As to commercial transport, public and working transport, like school buses, we have projects for them already for 2019,” VisionLabs General Director Alexander Khanin said.

Cameras recognize drivers from a long distance and check the identity as they approach.

VisionLabs was able to create the technology thanks to its cooperation with Nvidio, one of the U.S. biggest computer equipment makers.
